Press release template

Headline, dateline, the news in the first paragraph, a quote, company boilerplate and a media contact.

This is the page you get. Every block and row is editable.

What it is

A press release announces news in a fixed format journalists know. A headline and subheadline, a dateline (city and date), the news in the first paragraph, context in the second, a quote from a named person, availability and price, a short boilerplate about the company and a media contact. If the first paragraph doesn't say what's new, nobody reads the second.

When to use it

  • Product launches and major updates
  • Funding, partnerships or new hires at the top
  • Local news for a shop or event

How to use it

  1. 01

    Write the first paragraph first

Who, what, when and why it matters, in two or three sentences.

  2. 02

    Mark the embargo

Keep the red callout with the embargo time until it goes out.

  3. 03

    Get approvals

Share with comment access and tag the approvers in the callout.

  4. 04

    Publish it

When it's live, publish the page and send journalists the read-only link.
