What it is
A launch checklist lists everything that must happen before, during and after launch day, grouped by phase, with an owner on every item. It ends with go or no-go criteria agreed in advance, so the launch decision is a check against a list rather than a feeling on the day.
When to use it
- Launching a new product or major feature
- Coordinating marketing, support and engineering on one date
- Repeat launches where you want the same checklist each time
How to use it
- 01
Set the date and lead
Fill in the callout. Everything else is planned backwards from launch day.
- 02
Give every item an owner
Put a name in front of each to-do. Items without a name tend not to happen.
- 03
Agree on go or no-go
Write the criteria weeks before and get the launch lead to sign off in a comment.
- 04
Reuse it
After the launch retro, update the list and save it as a template for next time.
