What it is
An interview scorecard rates a candidate on a few competencies agreed before interviews start, using a fixed scale and written evidence for each score. Each interviewer fills theirs in alone before the debrief. That keeps one strong opinion in the room from changing everyone's memory of the interview.
When to use it
- Structured interviews with several interviewers
- Hiring where you want fair, comparable decisions
- Training new interviewers
How to use it
- 01
Agree on competencies first
Edit the headings to the three to five competencies for the role before the first interview.
- 02
Write evidence, then score
List what the candidate said or did, then pick the score that matches.
- 03
Keep it private until the debrief
Don't share your scorecard until everyone has written theirs.
- 04
Link it to the pipeline
Mention the scorecard with @ inside the candidate's card in the hiring pipeline.
