What it is
User interview notes keep research comparable across interviews. Each page has the research goal, a short profile of the person, the script, raw notes, direct quotes and the top three findings. Open questions about past behaviour ("walk me through the last time") get better answers than asking people what they'd want.
When to use it
- Customer discovery before building a feature
- Usability tests with five to eight people
- Churn interviews with customers who cancelled
How to use it
- 01
Agree on the goal
Write the research goal at the top and share the page with whoever takes notes.
- 02
Use the same script
Keep the questions the same for every interview, so findings line up.
- 03
Separate notes from findings
Write raw notes during the call, then the top findings right after. Quotes go in quote blocks.
- 04
Find patterns
After five interviews, use Ask your workspace to ask what the interviews have in common. It cites each page.
Or have the AI draft your version
"Draft a user interview page for researching how small restaurant owners order supplies, with a 6-question script about their last order, a notes section and a findings section."
