What was confusing in the first week?
What it is
An onboarding checklist plans a new hire's first month: before day one, day one, week one and the first 30 days. Every item has an owner, and a lot of them belong to the manager or the buddy, not the new person. It ends with a feedback question, so the checklist improves with each hire.
When to use it
- Every new hire, intern or contractor
- Teams where onboarding depends on one person remembering
- Remote starts where nobody can walk the new person around
How to use it
- 01
Copy it per person
Save the checklist as a template and create one page per new hire with their name in the title.
- 02
Assign owners
Put the name of the manager, buddy or IT contact in front of each to-do.
- 03
Share with the new hire
Give them edit access on day one so they can tick off their own items.
- 04
Collect feedback
Ask them to fill in the feedback toggle after week one, then update the template.
Or have the AI draft your version
"Write an onboarding checklist for a new customer support agent, covering before day one, day one, week one and the first 30 days, with owners and a feedback section."
