What it is
A lesson plan sets out what students should be able to do by the end of one lesson, the materials, a timed sequence (starter, explanation, activity, discussion, check), how to support and stretch different learners, and a short exit ticket that shows whether the goal was met. The after-lesson note is what makes the next version better.
When to use it
- Planning a single lesson or workshop
- Teaching a topic for the first time
- Sharing plans with a co-teacher or substitute
How to use it
- 01
Start with the goals
Write what students can do by the end, as actions you can check.
- 02
Time each part
Add minutes to each step. The total should match the lesson length.
- 03
Share with a substitute
Send a view-only share link if someone else teaches it.
- 04
Build a unit
Keep lesson plans as sub-pages of a unit page, and save the format as a template.
Or have the AI draft your version
"Write a 45-minute lesson plan for Year 6 on fractions using pizza diagrams, with learning goals, materials, a timed sequence, support and stretch tasks and a three-question exit ticket."
